Another day in Marrakech
Yesterday found me back to the souks of Marrakech. I can never seem to leave this city without another visit to this phenomonen. I tried to talk myself out of yet another trip to the Medina otherwise called the “old city”. My primary purpose for coming to Morocco was for some rest and relaxation, and this excursion is easily the opposite of anything relaxing. Still, I am always drawn back to the souk experience.
I always marvel at the hundreds of stalls selling thousands of objects made in Morocco. Obviously, a tourist’s paradise if one is looking for souvenirs to bring home to share with friends and family. It would seem that each visit I make to the Medina, I dare to go a little further into the center and dare to turn down a yet unexplored alley way. You must remember, I am almost always on my own and tend to be a bit nervous about getting absolutely and totally LOST in this incredible man made maze. We are talking hundreds of stalls spread over hundreds of square meters of endlessly winding small streets. Yet, I LOVE going back each visit.
Next post will show my usual quest. Looking for vintage hamsas………more on that soon!!! OH, yea, stay tuned.
Souk look of the day includes my two favorite basics:
White t-shirt found in NYC’s 45 RPM Mercer Street shop
Jean found in Paris’ 45 RPM Right Bank Shop
Crimson’s silk twill and cashmere scarf (my fave for this season)
Chloe’s bronz metallic ballet shoe – Montaigne Ave. Paris
Goyard cabas – rue St. Honore in Paris
Hermes natural leather belt – rue Fabourg St. Honore – Paris
Cameo earrings – Florence, Italy
